The WMES Parent Association (PA) at Agassiz is a very active and productive group. We welcome you to participate!

The purpose of the PA is to contribute to the quality of the educational experience and environment for our children by:

• Organizing activities that inspire community spirit and pride
• Organizing support resources to allow teachers to focus on teaching
• Acting as a communications bridge between parents, teachers, administration and the Board
• Raising funds to provide school infrastructure and learning resources as well as provide meaningful education experiences that are over and above what the standard school finances provide

To meet those objectives, the PA proposes to do the following in 2009-2010:

• Raise a minimum of $6000 for WMES Inc
• Proposed fundraisers include magazine and giftware sales, Norwex, perogies, farmer sausage and Bothwell cheese, bedding plants, Mom's Pantry, and Sobey's Gift Cards
• If families do not wish to fundraise, donations to the school are welcome. Further details on this option are described in the package.
• Provide hot lunches for students on alternating Wednesdays
• Dates, menus and order forms are attached.
• Provide a daily milk / juice program
• Order forms attached
• Organize a number of community building events such as a Family Fun Night at Fort Whyte, a spring picnic, an IMAX event, and a Goldeyes Game.
• Thank our teachers with a luncheon in June
• "Green" our school:
• In conjunction with the staff at WMES Agassiz, the PA will encourage green initiatives such as waste-free lunches, electronic memos, and composting.
• A variety of educational opportunities focusing on creation care will be provided throughout the year.

Meetings are held both in the evening and after Friday chapels to accommodate as many parents as possible. The meeting dates will be posted in an upcoming memo.
